AI Policy and Guidelines

To uphold academic integrity and ensure transparency, authors must follow the guidelines below regarding the use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools in manuscript preparation.

Permitted Uses

  • Authors may use AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Grammarly, QuillBot or other generative/editing software) for language editing, grammar correction, formatting, or idea generation.

  • AI may assist in non-substantive writing tasks (e.g., rephrasing or improving clarity) but should not be used to generate original scientific content, data analysis, or interpretations.

Disclosure Requirement

  • If AI tools were used in any stage of manuscript preparation, authors must disclose their use in the Acknowledgements section or a separate "AI Usage Disclosure" at the end of the manuscript.

  • The disclosure must include:

    • The name of the AI tool(s) used

    • The purpose of its use

    • The extent of AI involvement

Author Responsibility

  • Authors are entirely responsible for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of all content in the manuscript, including any part influenced by AI tools.

  • AI tools cannot be credited as authors. Only individuals who meet standard authorship criteria may be listed.

Prohibited Uses

  • AI-generated data, figures, or images are not allowed unless explicitly permitted and clearly labelled.

  • AI tools must not be used for:

    • Automated literature reviews

    • Writing original scientific findings or interpretations

    • Assisting in the peer-review process

AI Content Detection Policy

  • As part of the editorial screening process, submitted manuscripts may be analyzed using AI-detection tools.

  • If the manuscript is found to contain more than 30% AI-generated content , based on automated detection and editorial judgement, the submission will be rejected without review.

Non-Compliance

  • Non-compliance with these guidelines or deliberate concealment of AI usage may lead to the rejection of the manuscript, withdrawal of published articles, or notification to the author’s institution in serious ethical breach cases.
