Synergy: International Journal of Multidisciplinary Studies (SIJMDS) committed to the long-term preservation and accessibility of our scholarly content. Our Archive Policy outlines the strategies and systems we use to safeguard the integrity and availability of the journal’s digital materials, ensuring that they remain accessible to the academic community indefinitely.
SIJMDS employs a comprehensive preservation strategy, utilizing a combination of trusted systems and technologies to ensure the longevity and accessibility of the journal's content. These include the following:
CLOCKSS operates a global network of distributed archival nodes, spanning multiple geographic and political regions. This decentralized system is designed to preserve content and make it accessible even in the event of a "trigger event," such as the loss of content from the publisher. CLOCKSS ensures the continued availability and integrity of scholarly content for future generations.
LOCKSS is another distributed preservation system, where participating libraries across the world store local copies of our journal’s digital content. This decentralized model protects against failures in technology and organizational systems, ensuring the accessibility and security of the journal’s materials over time.
As part of the Public Knowledge Project (PKP), the PKP Preservation Network provides an additional layer of security for journals using Open Journal Systems (OJS). This system ensures that content published within SIJMDS is preserved using specific preservation protocols, offering reliable access for academic research and long-term scholarly use.
By combining CLOCKSS, LOCKSS, and PKP PN, SIJMDS ensures a robust, multi-faceted preservation system that guarantees the long-term availability of our published articles for academic research.
The digital content of SIJMDS is hosted across multiple platforms to ensure redundancy and continuous availability:
Primary Server: All content, including journal articles, papers, and supplementary materials, is hosted on a secure primary server, providing immediate access to users.
Backup Server: A mirrored copy of all digital content is stored on a separate backup server. This ensures that if the primary server experiences issues, an alternative source can be activated within 48 hours, minimizing any potential downtime.
Google Drive Storage: Additionally, SIJMDS utilizes Google Drive as a cloud-based backup solution. All journal content, including articles, manuscripts, and supporting files, are securely stored in Google Drive, providing an additional layer of backup to ensure that the content is always accessible, even in the event of server or system failures. Google Drive's high availability and reliability offer a further guarantee that SIJMDS materials will remain preserved.
SIJMDS adheres to best practices in preserving manuscripts and related data:
Accepted Manuscripts: Final versions of accepted manuscripts are securely archived and made publicly available as part of the journal’s published content.
Rejected Manuscripts: Manuscripts that are not accepted for publication are stored for record-keeping. Upon the author’s request, we will remove any rejected manuscripts and associated files from our archives.
All manuscripts and associated files are securely stored across multiple platforms, including our primary and backup servers and Google Drive, to ensure long-term preservation and data security.
